I started my journey to become a midwife 47 years ago, while pregnant with my second child. My first birth had been in a hospital, and it was extremely traumatic. In the process of searching for a better way I discovered midwifery and homebirth. Not only had I found a better way, I had found my calling!
After apprenticing for three years with several Midwives and a OBGYN, I started a practice in San Luis Obispo. I then moved to Napa where I served pregnant moms for over 12 years, before moving to Sacramento where I founded Sacramento Midwifery Services. I am honored and blessed to have supported over 1000 moms and babies in one of the most important events of their lives.
One of my favorite parts of being a midwife is educating and empowering women to take control. To trust their bodies and realize they were made to give birth! I am so happy to be back in Napa and look forward to meeting you!
Jamie’s passion for birth and healing sprouted during her internship in Ecuador, as she studied alongside the Kichwa and Waorani women and midwives in the Yasuni jungle. After living in Ecuador for six years, she returned to the US to share her education and experience of yoga, massage, and natural birthing.
One of Jamie’s strengths is building community through healing touch, therapeutic massage and teaching meditation in motion workshops. Jamie is fluent in Spanish and offers doula support to the Latina Community by offering appointment / labor translation, yoga workshops, and Childbirth / Lactation Education classes in both Spanish and English.
Jamie received her yoga teacher training and massage certification from Kripalu Yoga and Ayurveda school in Massachusetts in 2010. She is a certified pre / postnatal Yoga teacher and childbirth educator and is certified in CPR and NeoNatal Resuscitation.
